Annaghdown GAA Club were saddened to hear of the passing of Mickey Canavan. Mickey was an integral part of the Annaghdown Lotto Committee for many years and served as Treasurer of the Lotto Committee from its inception in 1996 until 2020. He also served as Assistant Treasurer of the Club. Mickey was invloved in the promotion of juvenile hurling in the club during the 1980’s and 1990’s during which time he generously mentored and managed many of our underage hurling teams. He recieved the Hall of Fame award at the club hurling awards in 2021.

Mickey was a great supporter of Annaghdown GAA teams in both hurling and football and his knowledge of the games, teams, players, GAA history and our own club heritage was an impressive trait of his which will be greatly missed. His legacy will always be remembered with fondness and gratitude.

We extend our sincere condolences to all the Canavan family and to all of Mickey’s friends and neighbours who mourn his passing.
