Leabharlann na GCairde Extending !!!

Special notice to all in Annaghdown Parish.

Please, Please, Please take a minute to read and share with all your family and friends in our Parish.

We are fortunate to have a Community Library in our parish run by a hard working group of volunteers. The library, known as “Leabharlann na gCairde” has proven to be a very valuable resource over the past number of years. Both young and old have enjoyed reading the great variety of books and attending various courses provided by the library.
There is now an opportunity for the library to take over another room in the girls’ old school in Corrandulla and extend. There is substantial work and expense involved in this project.
The Scrap Metal collections of 2011 & 2013 brought in a total of €85,000 which helped build our new Sports Hall and Astro Turf Pitch. The whole Parish worked together to make this happen.

The Library now seek scrap metal of a different kind. They are looking for your 1 cent and 2 cent coins which are now being phased out. They will happily accept any other euro coins along with old Irish coins and old Irish pound notes that may be lying around in jars and biscuit tins in houses in the Parish.
These are the early days of getting this fundraising project off the ground. We are setting up drop off points around the Parish.
-Corrandulla Post Office are up and running with their collection bottle.
-Children of Corrandulla National school will have a collection point in the school and
-The Parish Council office will also take in coins on behalf of the library between 10am and 1pm Monday to Friday.
More drop off points will be advertised in the coming week.
The volunteers in the library are a great asset to this Parish and we would encourage everyone to support their great work.
